Class Descriptions

All classes ages 3 and up will perform in the year end performance.

CREATIVE MOVEMENT 2 years. Creative Movement classes teach children to explore movement through music, stimulates imagination and promotes creativity.

BALLET (Intro) 3+4 years. Intro to Ballet teaches young dancers about class structure, improves motor skills and instills the joy of movement.

BALLET (Basics) 5+6 years.  This is a 45 minute introduction to Ballet for 5 and 6 year olds. Basic Ballet technique is taught while allowing children to have fun and enjoy movement.

BALLET (Beginner-Advanced) 7-10 years, 11+ years & Team Levels. Ballet is the foundation of all dance and is highly recommended as a building block for any style of dance. Students will be working at the barre, stretching, body placement, across the floor, leaps, turns, and over-all working towards strong and solid Ballet technique.

POINTE (Intermediate-Advanced) *Instructor Approval Only!

TAP N’ JAZZ (Basics) 5+6 years.  This is a 1 hour and 15 minute 1/2 Tap and 1/2 Jazz class for ages 5 and 6. This class is taught as a basic level Tap and introduction to Jazz. Students are moving slow to ensure correct technique. This class will perform Tap and Jazz in the year end show.

TAP N’ JAZZ (Beginners) 7-10 years. This is a 1 hour and 30 minute 1/2 Tap and 1/2 Jazz class for ages 7-9. This class is taught as a beginner level Tap and Jazz. Students are still moving slowly to ensure correct technique. Students will work on stretching, and across the floor combinations. This class will perform both Tap and Jazz in the year end show.

BOYS TUMBLE (Basic-Beginner) Ages 5-9 years. Boys Tumble is a boys ONLY class. This class is designed specifically for boys. This class will build discipline, confidence, and motor skills. Class work will consist of the same material as a regular Acro class only geared towards boy’s.

TAP (Intermediate-Advanced) 11+ years & Team Levels. Tap focuses on musical phrasing and the complexity of rhythms. The challenge of “making melodies” with the feet. All Tap classes are 45 minutes and include a warm up, across the floor, and center combinations.

JAZZ (Intermediate-Advanced) 11+ years & Team Levels. Jazz dance develops proper body alignment, strength and flexibility. This class will increase a student’s vocabulary by introducing a variety of across the floor progressions. Each class will consist of a warm up, stretch, progressions, and combinations.

HIP HOP (Beginner-Advanced) 7-10 years, 11-13 years, 14+ years & Teams Levels. Students will learn combinations and progressions to age appropriate music. This class is fun, funky, and upbeat. A great class for any level dancer.

ACROBATICS (Beginner – Advanced) 5+6 years, 7-10 years & 11+ years. Acro classes are taught as a tumble class. Students learn handstands, headstands, forward rolls, cartwheels and progress up to bigger tumbling tricks. Students will perform in the year end show.

MODERN (Beginner–Advanced) 11+ years & Team Levels 3&4. Modern is a free form of dance. Classes will explore movements through creativity and concepts. Dancers will learn about the “Pioneers” of the Modern dance world and learn what makes each technique unique and different. Great class for any level dancer beginner though advanced. Highly recommended to creative individuals. 

LYRICAL (Intermediate-Advanced) 11+ years & Team Levels. Combine Jazz and Ballet together and you get lyrical. A strong ballet and jazz technique is necessary for this class. Lyrical incorporates lines and body placement while connecting to the music emotionally and physically.

LEAPS N’ TURNS (Intermediate-Advanced) Team Levels *or instructor approval. With a primary focus on strength and technique, this class is designed to increase leaping and turning abilities for intermediate to advanced dancers. This class will consist of a warm up followed by many leap and turning combinations across the floor. This class will provide a dancer with the tools to progress in their dance training.
